PAIN

DAY 18/30/18/JUNE/2020

The recent news of Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death by commitng suicide has shook the world. It has once again forced people to take depression seriously. It has forced people to be sensitive towards the symptoms and offer help immediately.

It was absolutely a disturbing news and set me thinking. I am trying to visualize, what would be the level of pain and disturbance in the mind? How the strong emotion of sadness, frustration and pain coming from the limbic brain takes over the rational brain which is responsible for logical thinking. It also takes over the reptilian brain which purely drives the functions of human survival.

Its very difficult to fathom, how a human being can cause pain to themselves, harm to themselves and give away their life. Its the body that we are very sensitive about and protect it from any external dangers. A small cut, bruise,a small burn causes so much pain and we immediately rush for medication and relief.

But its so gory to know when people commit suicide by setting themselves on fire. Or cut their wrists and bleed to death. These are all slow death by causing pain every moment.

I wonder at what pain levels with suicidal tendencies would be operating to withstand the immense pain and let your life out.

It so important to manage your emotions well. Its also very critical to have your surroundings full of positivity. Sharing is one of the best ways to let it out. From time to time sharing and venting out is an absolute must. It slows down the process of building negativity within and start using the rational brain more often.

I feel really sorry for people who commit suicide. They get labelled as cowards and people who couldn't face the situation. I feel we too need to take some responsibility towards this issue. It was because we didn't contribute or support them they took such drastic measures to end it all.

Along with the physical health its alao essential to get a mental health check done from time to time. Having open communication from time to time dows help in refraining the tension from piling up. Of course humour is a good way of refreshing your mind and releasing a lots of seretonin, the chemical responsible for your happy feeling.

One more way is to practice meditation and pranayam. Breathing well and managing breathing patterns brings a lot of peace to the mind.

Its one life, one birth which has fortunately been of a human being. We have been blessed with this amazing power to think and be a good decision maker for yourself.

Lets respect that power besgowed upon us and stay a healthy life. Problems and situations are inevitable. Let's make fighting them, handling them also inevitable.
